Welcome From The President
From our President
Sister Cities International began with President Eisenhower in 1956. After a devastating World War, he had the initiative to put “People, Partnership and Peace” together. It became a way ordinary people could share across borders. Working together built wider understanding, mutual respect, and project cooperation between peoples. It became a local interest with a global focus for peace, one individual, one community at a time.
The Palm Desert Sister Cities Foundation has two partners we’ve shared with over the years. Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Mexico and Gisborne, New Zealand. We’ve crafted student, teacher, and artistic exchanges. We’ve helped with humanitarian and public safety projects. It’s a story that has helped here and around the globe to be repeated from many Sister Cities working as partners.
We welcome your interest and your inquiry.
